HOW TO POTTY TRAIN YOUR TODDLER IN 2 DAYS
Plus, I don’t think our toddler was ready to be potty trained at the time. Sometimes we’d sit in he bathroom for up to an hour. So we eventually gave up. However, I would still bring him with me every time that I had to use the restroom, and I would ask him to sit and potty. If he didn’t pee by the time I was done I would just put his diaper back on and we’d leave the bathroom.
2 STEPS TO POTTY TRAIN YOUR TODDLER IN 2 DAYS
1. BUY POTTY TOILET A MONTH BEFORE TRAINING
Buy a potty toilet 1 month before start potty training. Leave it in the bathroom and every time that you go, bring your toddler with you and ask them to sit down and potty. They’re not going to understand at first but it won’t take time before they do. You don’t need to create a schedule, you don’t have to be in the bathroom for hours until they pee. You are not potty training yet, your only job at this point is to get your child familiar with the word “potty” or “toilet”. Once they understand the word, you can move on to #2.
My son likes to watch Sesame Street so we got him this Elmo potty toilet that he loves. It has a flush handle that plays elmo phrases and flushing sounds. I chose this toilet because it also converts into a step stool, we use it when my son is washing his hands or brushing his teeth. It even has handles on the side just in case your kid needs to hold on tight while dropping the load lol.
2. CREATE A POTTY TRAINING SCHEDULE
When my toddler asked me to take him to potty, instead of me having to ask him if he had to go, I knew that he was ready to be potty trained. So, we created a potty training schedule. We were on the schedule for 2 days and after that he would just ask me to take him to the bathroom every time he had to go so there was no need to stick to the schedule anymore. I was very surprised that I was able to potty training that fast. I’ve talked to family and friends with kids and they told me that it was going to be tough but it really wasn’t.
We stopped using diapers on the first day of the schedule. We switched over to these toddler underwear from Amazon, I strongly believe they also help speed things up. Your toddler might wet their underwear a few times, so stay calm and be patient. Kids are fast learners, after just 2 days of sticking to the schedule they’ll start to really understand that there’s no diaper there anymore and that they must go to the toilet.
I really don’t recommend pull ups… it will just confuse your toddler. Switch over to boxers/underwears right away!
POTTY TRAINING TIPS
Buying a potty toilet a month before you start to potty train is really the key to do it as fast as we did. If you start the schedule, and your toddler doesn’t pee right away. Wait just a few minutes. At first it’ll be hard to get them to sit still in the potty toilet for even just a minute, so you can try giving them a book. I’ve mentioned the best 10 books for toddlers that are super fun to read.
I also want to share that we still use diapers at night and during nap time because I know my son is not ready to hold his pee in while he sleeps yet. I’ve tried it, and he wet the bed. I haven’t decided how and when we’ll start potty training at night but I’ll share it once I figure it out.
Make sure to take a look at the potty training schedule that helped us get it done in only 2 days.
Anyways, good luck potty training momma and stay safe.
